Dr. Kurt Poterack is a distinguished musician and educator with three decades of experience teaching at the collegiate level. He holds a Master of Music and a Ph.D. in Music Composition from Michigan State University, providing a strong foundation in the art and craft of music. His passion and expertise extend deeply into the realm of Catholic liturgical music, where he has dedicated nearly a lifetime of study and practice. A respected scholar of Gregorian chant, Dr. Poterack's training includes work with the late Dr. Theodore Marier and studies of the Ward Method at The Catholic University of America (CUA). He has shared his knowledge as an instructor of the Chant Practicum course at CUA and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Dom Mocquereau Foundation, a testament to his commitment to preserving and promoting sacred music. Dr. Poterack also currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Liturgical Music at Christendom College, where he directs the Christendom College Choir and Schola Gregoriana and coordinates the Beato Fra Angelico Fine Arts Program. His work inspires students to engage with the rich traditions of music, blending scholarly rigor with a profound appreciation for its spiritual and historical significance. We are so incredibly grateful and honored to have him join the Chelsea team.
