Robert Shafer

Robert Shafer is a veteran teacher who has spent 27 years in the classroom teaching preschool and Kindergarten-aged students. He is entering his fifth year at Chelsea Academy. Rob, along with his wife and children, traded the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia for the bucolic beauty of Front Royal in 2022. He enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the many hiking trails our area has to offer, and kayaking on the Shenandoah River, as well as other lakes and rivers throughout the region.
Mr. Shafer received his B.A. from Shenandoah University and recently completed his first session of Level One training for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. He is also certified in the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education’s Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham and Early Literacy Program. He is delighted to be part of Chelsea Academy’s Lower School as our Kindergarten teacher. Rob loves taking his class on field trips and seeing the tremendous academic progress his students make throughout the school year. There is at least one moment every day when he feels he has the best job in the world teaching at Chelsea Academy. Last year, Rob was recognized as the Michael Echaniz Teacher of the Year for the 2025–2026 academic year in recognition of his excellence in teaching.
