Mr. Jacob Guttierrez has been a valued member of the Chelsea Academy faculty for 14 years and brings 19 years of teaching experience to our community. A graduate of Thomas Aquinas College in California, Mr. Gutierrez has always approached education as an opportunity to help students encounter the beauty, order, and truth of God’s creation. Whether teaching Sixth Grade Science, Eighth Grade Logic, or Upper School Theology, Mr. Guttierrez  seeks to help students recognize the harmony between faith and reason. As he explains, “In 6th grade science, we focus on seeing God’s hand in His creation; the study of natural history is the study of the Intelligent Designer. In 8th grade Logic, we embrace our rational faculty; the gift which sets us humans apart from the other animals. In 11th grade Theology, we study how any man can begin to be like God through natural virtues, and then we dive into how a man can become a child of God through the Sacraments and their effects. In 12th grade Theology, we explore the problems and solutions of our modern world.” Mr. Guttierrez and his wife are the proud parents of six children, five of whom attend Chelsea Academy. Outside of the classroom, he is an avid soccer enthusiast and continues to share his love of the beautiful game with those around him.
