Diarmuid Wheeler

Originally from Ireland, Dr. Wheeler brings a formidable academic background to Chelsea, holding a Double Honors Bachelor of Arts and a Master's in Military History & Strategic Studies from Maynooth University, along with a doctorate in History from the University of Galway. No stranger to our community, Dr. Wheeler previously served as a valued faculty member at Chelsea, where his dedication was recognized by his peers as the first-ever recipient of the Michael Echaniz Teacher of the Year Award. More recently, he was a driving force behind significant academic enhancements at The Mount Academy, where he revitalized the History and Humanities curriculum and spearheaded teacher training programs. Dr. Wheeler deeply resonates with Chelsea's foundational pillars and strives daily to embody the virtues of our patron, St. Thomas More. He considers it an immense privilege to lead what he affectionately calls our "absolute gem of a school.” He and his wife, Chelsie, along with their son and two daughters (with their eldest joining Chelsea this fall), are filled with joy and optimism for the future, eager to embark on this truly new and exciting chapter for Chelsea Academy alongside our wonderful community.
