Dear Friends of Chelsea Academy:
News about Chelsea Academy is spreading far and wide. Over the past month, I have talked to or corresponded with people from Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Kentucky, California, Florida, Indiana, Wisconsin, Texas, Canada, England, Switzerland, Poland, India, the Philippines, and Ukraine about the exciting developments taking place in Front Royal. And would you believe that several soccer hopefuls from Africa have emailed me about attending Chelsea Academy as a way to launch their careers in Europe’s football leagues?
Well, perhaps not yet, but Front Royal’s reputation as an attractive place to live is a boon to Chelsea Academy. The Washington Times posted an on-line video on Christmas in Front Royal during the holiday season, and Virginia Living, a bimonthly magazine about the commonwealth, recently included an article on the charms of Front Royal. People from throughout the U.S. and even abroad have told me that the vibrant Catholic community and high quality of life in Front Royal have made them want to move here. They have also told me that the addition of Chelsea Academy makes the area even more appealing.
One sign of the growing interest in the school is the tremendous turn out at our first Chelsea Social, hosted by a family in Rappahannock in mid-December. Several more socials are scheduled during the month of February. Please let me know if you are interested in attending or hosting one in the coming weeks. These socials provide a great opportunity to hear about the school, to ask questions, and to share your thoughts.
At this stage in the planning, my attention has turned to hiring the faculty. It would be a slight exaggeration – but not by much – to say we have been inundated with applications from talented and faithful men and women. As any student knows, good teaching makes learning come alive. John Henry Cardinal Newman put it so well when he wrote that “Persons influence us, voices melt us, looks subdue us, deeds inflame us.” It is the work of dedicated, inspiring teachers that is the distinguishing mark of a great school. We anticipate attracting highly qualified, able teachers who fully embrace the school’s mission and whose words and deeds embody the ideals of the school.
Sincerely,
Jonathan D. Brand
